Every time my dad would put the tape in I’d groan a bit and wonder if my friends had to watch weird movies all the time. I’d seen The Princess Bride more times than I’d choose to remember and I did not get why it was so great. The humor was above my head and the scene with ROUSes scared me. It wasn’t until I got a little older that I began to find it funny and now anytime it is on tv I watch it.
The first book that I purchased on my Nook was The Princess Bride. I had been trying to check it out at the library for months and it was always out. The paperback version was overpriced and when I saw that it was only $5 as an e-book I bought it without thinking twice. I did not get around to reading it until mid-February though. It kept me busy all weekend and I finished it while serving jury duty. Hooray for jury duty on a holiday… It was not what I expected it to be like. I enjoyed it, but I think I will try and read the original because this version only includes the ‘best’ scenes. It was interesting to read a book where the author abruptly input his thoughts. If this occurred in every book, it would not be so enjoyable. All the same I liked knowing the back story of why each scene was chosen.
If you are looking for a quick read that brings back memories of an old film, pick up the book.
